Footprint Awards 2022
On Tuesday, our team were shortlisted for Footprint Awards 2022 in partnership with Gourmet Burger Kitchen, SA Brains and Deep Blue. Our sustainability strategies and solutions were clearly recognised by the judges as we were selected three times in the Waste Prevention Category!
The Footprint Awards is still the only initiative to honour the achievements of companies in sustainability and responsible business practice for the food and drinks industry in the out of home sector.
Speaking about the awards, our Head of External Affairs, Dave Gudgeon said “We’re ecstatic to be back again this year, having our efforts with our partners be recognised shows the importance of what we’re doing in the waste industry matters.
We’ve got years of experience delivering sustainable solutions to clients in the Hospitality sector and we believe that Footprint Media Group do a fantastic job highlighting the sustainability agenda and promoting responsible business practice for the drinks industry.”
All three clients were all shortlisted in the Waste Prevention Category. Here’s some of the highlights from their nominations:
Marston’s (SA Brains) took over the management of the SA Brains pubs. Marston’s have seen implemented solutions that have increased recycling rates to a whopping 76%, general waste has reduced by circa 600 tonnes p.a. and NO WASTE IS SENT TO LANDFILL. Not only are they investing in a scheme to create green energy and support the reforestation of our planet but are also planting trees in Wales which will have an additional positive carbon capture over the next 10>50 years.
Gourmet Burger Kitchen have been on a short journey so far, which has seen them double their on-site recycling. They’re proud of the fact that in less than a year, they’ve been able to recycle more than 70% of their waste, landfilling just 0.06% of the general waste and achieving Certified Carbon Neutrality Status as well.
Deep Blue have been collaborating with us for only five months, they’ve implements solutions already that has had a significant impact. Surplus potatoes are donated to local charities and community kitchens. They have improved source segregation and nearly doubled our recycling rate, achieved zero landfill status, and reduced their carbon footprint for ‘Waste Disposal’ by circa 93%.
The awards stand for the annual celebration of businesses and individuals making a difference to sustainability in the trade drinks sector and its supply chain. The winners will be announced at the Footprint Awards Dinner on Thursday 9th June 2022 at the Royal Institute British Architects (RIBA) in Portland Place, London.
Congratulations to all those shortlisted and good luck to all the attendees, we’re sure it will be a fantastic ceremony.
